INFO POINT ::: Competition for architects under 35

Welcome to Adobe GoLive 6
1st Prize
€ 10,000
Alberto Garcia Castro (Spain)
Juan Jose Cruz
Ismael Paez Jurado
It was considered an interesting exercise of transforming from a 2‐dimensional surface into a volume to be inhabited, with an attractive simplicity. The project was appreciated for its ingenuity and its achievement of an interior compartmentalization and response to program with a few clear moves. The entry was noted for its strong expression, purity and the choice of materials.

2nd Prize
€ 5,000
Kakhaber Kakhishvili (Georgia)
Mirror entry was chosen for second prize. The scheme is primarily contextual, with each façade responding to its neighbour.

3rd Prize
€ 3,000
Andrea Veglia (Italy)
Luca Rocca
Francesca Thiébat
Benedetta Veglia
Jacopo Testa
SILVER BOX, chosen for third prize, has a distinctly rational floorplan, simple elevations. The roof ventilation device is a solution which actively responds to climate conditions, allowing for ventilation and directing sunlight while giving the simple box character and identity to distinguish its formal qualities. While the scheme was somewhat incomplete in its geometric analysis, its suggestion for creative roof detailing with an interest in actual construction was appreciated.

1st
Honourable
mention
Cristina Cardinale (Italy)
Mario Augusti
Stefania Campochiaro
Tania Castagno
Valentina Murgia
Tullia Ricciardi
Alberto De Davide
First honourable mention was awarded to the WALL SCHEME for its simple solution which defines a clear axis and organizes movement clearly. This scheme fully and completely addressed programmatic requirements through its multiple volumes which protrude and intersect the central spine. The jury appreciated the scheme’s potential to activate the space surrounding it, as well as the playful use of color in its accent wall and its inclusion of an environmentally friendly green treatment. The wall itself becomes a large display surface for communication and exhibition.

2nd
Honourable
mention
Daniele Mancini (Italy)
Andrea Cattabriga
Bruno Losengo
Irene Rinaldi
The COW scheme is an architecturally simplistic assemblage of parts which successfully bring attention to the issue of life cycle on our planet. While the project itself, as an exhibition of a particular cycle, calls attention and raises issues of global impact for an extremely economical budget, the blatant imposition of live animals in Piazza Castello can certainly become a controversial statement which might evoke responsiveness from the community. On the other hand its architecture is less developed and remains
in the realm of an expressive statement.

3th
Honourable
mention
Spiros I. Papadimitriou (Greece)
Sebastian Duque
Roubini Makridou
I CLOUD scheme was chosen for third honourable mention. Although the actual implementation of this computer generated form is questionable the level of imagination goes beyond merely an exercise in computer graphics and begins to suggest the possibilities of structural explorations in algorithmic form. The spatial quality of this futuristic form has been chosen for its playfulness and potential to lighten the skyline of Torino.
